The WEDDING cake!

So Danny and Jaime got married on Oct 3rd. they asked me make their wedding cake. I did it as a gift to them. Danny was able to take my wedding pictures and didnt charge me anything. so it was only appropriate we trade services...4 years later. It was a lovely wedding jaime looked beautiful!

I baked the cake at home and transported it to Elberton, GA. I iced it at the cabin we stayed at. Then i assembled it and decorated it at the church Fellowship Hall. I didnt know how else to do it. im not very good a assembling a tier cake that is already decorated, i need to be able to touch the sides of the cake... it only took about an hour to decorate at the church. the leaves are made out of fondant that i made at home in advance.
the base of the wedding cake was provided by a friend of jaime who has a catering business. it almost didnt happen though! i was placing the second tier on the cake and as i almost set it down some one yelled, "stop!" and he ran in with it. it would have been fine with out it but it gave it an extra boost.

Patrick and Andrews birthday

So patrick's birthday was Oct 1st. Patrick was out of town for work that week and it was the weekend of Danny and Jaime's Wedding, so I told him weeks in advance that he wasnt getting a birthday cake. Patrick's parents and i were planning to do a family celebration the following sunday, and they were going to make the cake, but it didnt work out and finally we did Patrick's and Andrew birthdays together last weekend. Andrew really likes the big cookies and i like them b/c they are easy to make.

So the story behind the gun on the cake..weird i know. but patrick decided to buy a gun for his birthday. He told me about his on his birthday, over the phone, that he bought this 500 dollar gun. i was pissed. he bought it weeks prior and just told me. he told his family, in fact they had all been to the shooting range with it. he probably waited till he was out of town and over the phone so i couldnt hurt him.
so i promptly cancelled his birthday present i was going to get him and he got nothing from me.

Tar Heels

I know im really behind in posting.

This is a cake i made for a gal at work. Her husband loves the Tar Heels.

She also requested a yellow cake with a peanut butter filling. the filling was really good, thick and rich. She said it tasted great with a big glass of milk!

the top of the cake is a solid piece of color flow. it took a long time! but turned out pretty well. it was the only way i could have gotten all they detail on there! i made it weeks in advance and bascially just placed it on top.
